Black Cat Costume

Make this simple black cat costume with a sweat suit and a few other supplies.

Wear a black sweat suit. Make a Cat Ear Headband to wear. Use felt or even construction paper and cut out a long thin tail; use a safety pin and attach it to the back of your sweat pants. Use black eye liner or face paint and make yourself whiskers and a black nose.

Ideas shared by Heather: "I went to Salvation Army and picked up a black leotard and we used black stretch pants we had on hand.

I went to a craft store and picked up a 6' black feather boa and cut it into sections; around the neck, arms, and a lentgh for the tail. I attached these with saftey pins.

We used a pair of ears that we bought under $5 at a store, but you could easily create some with felt and a headband.

You'll have the cutest little black cat. You can create other types of cats by changing up the colors."

Cat Ear Headband

Instructions for making a headband that looks like cat ears.

Materials Needed:

  • Construction Paper
  • Crayons or Markers
  • Stapler or Tape

Instructions:
Using the construction paper, cut out a strip of paper about 2 inches thick and long enough to wrap around your fore head (make sure you make it an inch or two longer so you can staple the ends together.)

Now, fold another piece of paper in half and cut out a set of pointy cat ears. If you want to add stripes, spots, or other designs to your cat ears, do it now.

Put the bottom edge of each ear up against the strip of paper and staple or tape them in place. Once the ears are attached, staple or tape the ends of the strip together to snugly fit around your fore head.
