What is 7-a-day?

From the Coles website

7-a-day is all about eating better and living better. Coles in partnership with the Dietitians Association of Australia has developed the 7-a-day program to encourage all Australians to eat 7 serves of fruit and vegetables a day. Just a few extra serves each day can make a big difference to overall health and well being.

Why 7-a-day?

For many years, we’ve been reminded of the importance of fruit and vegetables in our diet. Significantly, an estimated 35% of cancer related deaths may be prevented by eating better. A balanced diet, which includes at least seven serves of fruit and vegetables a day, may help reduce the incidence of certain types of cancer and heart disease.

The Dietitians Association of Australia.

The Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) advocates for better food, better health and better living for all Australians. Over 2000 practising dietitians working in all areas of nutrition and dietetics are represented by the Association.

Dietitians are experts in nutrition. A public guarantee of this expertise is provided through the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) program – a national system for recognition of professionals who have the qualifications and expertise to provide expert nutrition and dietary advice.
