A WHACK ON THE SIDE OF THE HEAD : How You Can Be More Creative (Paperback) by von Oech "This book is a life changer. I'm basically a creative visionary. But I get stuck. Read this book and do the exercises if you want to get unstuck!!"
"This is a book to enjoy, to use, to recommend to everyone... In a way its Heraclitus for the 21st century mixed with some de Bono.. Do not get me wrong, there is a unique creation of Dr. Von Oech in here, a profound questioning of our creative muscles and a very practical way to use the.. simple yet not simplistic..humorous yet profound"

Judgment and Strength of a Leader
The greatest psychological challenge in setting and acting on
priorities has to do with resource allocation. Whether
in a group meeting or through conventional budgeting and
capital approval processes, you have to demonstrate
judgment and courage in making resource allocation
decisions that reflect your business priorities and in
following through to ensure that the things that should
be happening in fact are. You have to do the analytic
work to separate out the facts and assess the
opportunities and risks, but you also need to call upon
your inner strength and judgment as John did as CEO of
his company.

From Mission and Vision
A
recent survey at a client company gave the company high
marks for communication and team work. The lowest score
was in shared vision, mission, and direction. Staff felt
they understood their team goals well, but did not
understand, and thus could not support, the overall
company direction. The lack of shared vision and mission
scared people. The company downsized this fall and had
experienced some bumpy months. Fear that no one knew
where the company was going was the scariest of all to
staff members. These fears were allayed by company
leaders providing more information and meeting more
frequently with staff. During times of change: changing
direction, changing business models and more, the power
of leader communication of a clear mission and vision
for the future cannot be underestimated.
